Responsible for research on fisheries in the framework of the Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection is the Johann-Heinrich von Thuenen Institut (vTI). Among other things, the vTI is in charge of all research activities necessary to achieve the political aims of the BMELV in the field of fisheries and their products.
In addition to that, the Friedrich-Loeffler Institut (FLI) examines questions in connection with infectious diseases in fish, and the pathogens causing them.
The addresses of national fisheries institutes and bodies as well as of university institutes and institutes dealing with fisheries issues are listed in Annex 3 of the National AGR Programme.
