The Information System Genetic Resources GENRES is the information platform on agrobiodiversity. It is administrated by the Information and Coordination Centre for Biological Diversity (IBV) of the Federal Agency for Agriculture and Food (BLE).
GENRES supports the implementation of the Strategy on Agrobiodiversity “Conservation of Agricultural Biodiversity, Development and Sustainable Use of its Potentials in Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries” of the BMELV. GENRES represents the Clearing House Mechanism (CHM) for the section agrobiodiversity inside the German Clearing House mechanism for the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD).
In Germany there are, amongst others, the following information and network platforms:
The information platform Clearing House Mechanism (CHM) is the central information, communication and cooperation system of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). The CHM shall support the scientific and technological cooperation between the contracting parties and the access to information and data about the implementation of the CBD.
The Network-Forum for Biodiversity Research in Germany (Nefo) is a project to provide the research community a common communication structure and culture that is independent of institutions. GENRES is part of NeFo for the area “Agrobiodiversity”.
The NGO network „biodiversity“ informs about the current discussions and negotiations, uploads position papers and gives background information about the activities of German NGOs on biodiversity.
