Increasing the variety of cultivated plants and strengthening biodiversity in the agricultural landscape are declared goals of the new agricultural policy. The variety of wild fruit is an important building block.

The aim of the conference is to discuss ways of preserving and using the biological diversity of wild fruit in a sustainable way, and to bring them more into the public eye. A wide range is covered by the preservation of wild fruit in the landscape, in the gene bank network "German genebank of fruit crops" and sustainable use through breeding, research, training and cultivation as diverse fruit cultures.
