This title is awarded to forest ecosystems that are managed in an exemplary and sustainable manner in all areas. The forest of the year 2022 could be characterized as a diverse multi-generation house with exotic touches. A decisive factor for the Bund Deutscher Forstleute was that the naturally managed Erdmannwälder have survived the climate damage of the last four years in the form of storms, drought and beetle infestation almost unscathed.

The award also recognizes the special work of the foresters and the forest owners on site, whose protection and care enables the diverse use of the forest area.
