Better support the use of native plants

In its press release, the German Association for Landscape Conservation (DVL) calls for "better support for the production and use of native seeds and plants". In theory, the use of native seeds and plants is regulated in Section 40 of the Federal Nature Conservation Act. In practice, however, things look different.

There are problems with the implementation and interpretation of the nature conservation regulations. In order to be able to maintain biodiversity in the cultivated landscape, the continuous and consistent use of native seed and planting material is essential.
